An excellent country artist on this episode. After years of singing other people's songs, today's guest collaborated with Grammy-winning songwriter “Moose” Brown and the end result is an awesome album called "All Over The Map." We'll feature some songs from that album and introduce you to Teea Goans. She's definitely Someone You Should Know.
A virtuoso is an individual, who possesses exceptional or extraordinary skill, talent, or expertise in a particular field, often in the arts or music. The term is commonly associated with highly skilled musicians, such as instrumentalists who demonstrate extraordinary technical proficiency, artistic interpretation, and a deep understanding of their instrument or genre. That term applies to this episode's guest. Around NW Indiana he's been referred to as a "guitarist's guitarist." I'm so happy to introduce you to the amazing Marco Villarreal, Someone You Should Know.
A truly fascinating guest for this podcast episode. This dear friend of mine is Radio's version of Forrest Gump. He was there as the Berlin Wall came down, he was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, just before Desert Storm kicked off and was in the procession of a Royal Wedding. He helped Adam Curry become an MTV-VJ and even managed to swipe Boz Scaggs' Limo. He has so many fascinating stories to tell in this episode, plus he and his wife have an informative travel show called, "The Travel Planner's Show." He's my radio brother, Kevin McCarthy and he truly is Someone You Should Know.
Jazz fans, you're gonna love this episode's podcast guest. He's the drummer for a talented ensemble of musicians that composes jazz in the spirit of the Verve labels of the 50s and 60s bop heyday. They just released their 8th album this past May and we'll feature music from that record as well as others. The band is the Verve Jazz Ensemble, and from that band is their band leader, Josh Feldstein, Someone You Should Know.
In this encore episode, we go back 22 years and visit with a friend of mine who we lost in 2018 I have been a fan of Shooting Star for many years and had the opportunity to talk to Van McClain several times. My late wife and I had the great opportunity to have dinner with Van and Keith Mitchell before one of their gigs in St. Louis. This was the last interview I had with Van before he passed away. Van shares some funny road stories that were featured as part of the original Someone You Should Know national radio show in 2001. The photo was taken during one of our visits in 2000. RIP My friend.
Here's another encore episode of the "Someone You Should Podcast." In this episode, I spoke with Darius Rucker. Prior to going country in 2008, he was the frontman for Hootie and the Blowfish. I caught up with Darius in late 2003 while he was promoting, their 5th album, called "Hootie and the Blowfish." Listen in as Darius shares a few funny moments from the tour and some info about the album.
Today's podcast guest has played with some high-profile rock royalty. He was the lead singer for Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) and vocalist /guitarist for Head East. He's Richie Callison and he's Someone You Should Know.
If you grew up in Chicago in the 70s and 80s, you were truly blessed by some of the most talented announcers in the country. When I was a teen, WLS and WCFL were on all the time. My podcast guest this time was not only an exceptional announcer but an innovative manager who introduced many of the great contest ideas, and elements we grew up with. He was also part of the famous "Animal Stories" broadcast on WLS. Not only that but while working with the Chicago Bulls, he introduced music during stoppages of play that have become the standard operating procedures for decades. That magical mind and voice is the legendary "Lil Snot-nosed" Tommy Edwards and he is truly Someone You Should Know.
Their bio reads, "When it comes to power rock trios, Flat Blak breaks the mold. Their original music comes from a love of all things Rock-n-Roll with a blues-based vibe like no one else." You're going to find out for yourself as we feature music Flat Blak and I introduce you to Travis Manning, Rob Allen, and Scott Brocato. Flat Blak is a trio that's day is due, and they are Someone You Should Know.
According to today's talented singer/songwriter, "If you ain't composing, you're decomposing." This talented New York City music icon in the roots rock community has been a lightning rod for great songs. Since 2015, she has cranked out six albums and an EP and has two more on the way. She's the amazing Emily Duff, Someone You Should Know.
This talented musician just graduated from college and is continuing on a path he started when he was eight years old. To his credit, he already has one song that has had over 3.9 million listens on Spotify. His latest EP "Maui Tapes" is fun and energetic and something ideal to cap off summer. We'll play music from that EP as I introduce you to Parker Bailey, the mastermind behind "Runner and Bobby," definitely Someone You Should Know.
